It is with great sadness that we have learned that David Jones and Jennifer O’Connell were both killed in an automobile accident last night in Chesapeake. Both David and Jennifer were very active members of Epiphany, David having been raised in the parish and presently serving on the Vestry. Jennifer was serving as Parish Register. Funeral plans are pending. Please pray for the repose of the souls of both David and Jennifer.
May they rest in peace and rise in glory.
Update: The funeral service for David will be held at the Church of the Epiphany on Friday, July 30th, at 2PM. A reception will follow. The service will also be live-streamed – details will be available shortly.
The loss of Jen and David is beyond words. Not seeing Jen’s beautiful smile or hearing David’s voice in the office as they made their way down the boulevard will be deeply missed by myself and the entire Real Estate team. They were both gentle, kind and caring, and were so happy together. Rest in Peace Jen and David, you will forever be in our hearts. Sending my condolences and prayers to their families.
David Jones was my cousin. He was a very kind and thoughtful person. Thank God for 2 years ago I saw him at a family function. He was always so happy to see everyone and brought joy to everyone around him. He will be missed deeply. May David and Jennifer R~I~P
I am so sorry for the loss of David. He was a personal friend for many, many years and I will miss him! Condolences go to his family.

I have known Jenny since HS days at Visitation, we have been friends for over 40 years. I am so sad and devastated to hear this tragic news. I never had the opportunity to meet David, but I know she really cared for him and that they had lots of fun times together. God has gained 2 very special angels. Prayers to Jenny’s mom and sister and the David’s family as well!
Unfathomable. My wife was a lifelong friend of Jennifer and we had a great time with her and David the last few years whenever we came down from Toronto. We zoomed with them not too long ago and now they are gone. Great people and truly a tragedy. We will keep both families in our prayers.
This is so tragic. Jennifer was as kindhearted as anyone I have ever known. My deepest condolence to Colleen and her family. I know you were very close.
David was a dear friend. He worked with me for many years and I have nothing but the best to say about him. He was helpful and caring to anyone who needed him. I didn’t get the pleasure of meeting Jennifer, but David talked about her a lot. He adored her! It’s hard to imagine him not being here, but may he rest in peace in Heaven!! He will be greatly missed.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I was at the intersection when it happened and immediately got on the phone with EMS while running to their car. I wish I could have done more to help them.
Thank you Mr. Giwer for doing everything you could for Jen and David in their time of need. While heaven gained two angels that evening, its comforting to know that there are still caring people like yourself willing to help others. God bless you.
David was one of the nicest people I worked with at First Virginia Bank .I always laughed he could talk about any subject and was knowledgeable. Very sad hearing this news and praying for family and friends .
David was great friend and colleague who I had the pleasure of serving with on the Board of the Feldman Chamber Music Society for about 10 years. He has done so much for the Feldman over the years and was instrumental in it’s success. David was truly a selfless servant and was always willing to help in any way he could. We are greatly saddened by his passing and we will keep David and his family in our prayers.
David and Jen were kind people who graciously brought laughter and positivity wherever they went. I am saddened by the loss of such great people and will miss them dearly. I pray they have found their peace in Heaven.
Davey always brought joy to your heart and a smile to your face,
he will be deeply missed.
There will be an empty seat at GB Wrestling
Condolences to the family and friends of both Jennifer O’Connell and David Jones rest in heaven
I ministered to Jennifer just before her brother’s death. I am shattered by this news. Please, please let me know of funeral services. I am a member of St. Peter’s in Richmond where she was a former member. We just texted Tuesday. I believe her brother needed her in heaven. 804-874-8814
I worked with David Jones for several years in the Chesapeake Real Estate Assessors office. Didn’t know Jennifer as I took position within another city dept before she arrived
Sorry for the loss and prayers to family, etc.
David was a close friend of mine for the past 25 years. He selflessly supported Great Bridge High School wrestling, publishing their wresrling annual each year foe at least 10 years. That annual included photographs of each wrestler, their biographies, historical questions and answers, and sponsors. This was all volunteer work, He was honest and generous. This is a huge loss to the wrestling community and to the city of Chesapeake, where he worked as an appraiser of commecal real estate. All of us will miss him.
I only met Jennirfer once, but she was the light of his life and he old me so on several occasions. This was a dreadful tragedy.
